Look Around

Monday April 18, 2011               Look Inward                                    Read Psalm 139.
Examine your thoughts, attitudes, and feelings. Is there any bitterness, jealousy, anger, hostility, or unforgiveness in your life? Ask God to search your heart and reveal any sin in your life that you are unaware of. Ask God to show you areas where you sin as you go through the day today.  Spend more time confessing your sins than normal today.

Tuesday April 19, 2011               Look Outward                                Read James 2
What areas of your life are you neglecting to serve God by not serving others? What relationships  are strained or broken in your life that you need to work on? (Romans 12:18 so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men.)
-          Call someone and apologize today.
-          Try and make a broken relationship right. (Mt 5:23-24)
-          Find at least one person to share the gospel with today.
Wednesday April 20, 2011    Look Backward                     Read Mark 15
As you think about Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection meditate on all that He accomplished on the cross. Think about all the prophesy that was fulfilled in Christ’s death. Meditate on the gospel that saves you. Spend extra time today in prayer thanking God for saving you. If you have time today, look up the terms “redeemed,” and “justified” as they pertain to the atonement. Spend time meditating on those terms as well.

Thursday April 21, 2011       Look Forward              Read 1 Corinthians 15
What was the greatest meal you ever ate? What made it so good? Who was with you when you ate it? One day we will dine with Jesus at the marriage feast in Heaven. (Revelation19:9) While I am sure the food will be good, what will be most spectacular is the company with which we will share the meal. Can you image eating and drinking in the physical presence of Jesus Christ? While we will be there with loved ones and saints from history past, our focus will not be on them. We will be focused on the Christ! As you pray today sing the old hymn “Holy, Holy, Holy”.  Think about each word and sing it from your heart directly to him. Also, I have included the lyrics to “The Communion Hymn”.  Spend some time today looking over the words. Think about each word and lyric. Meditate on the meaning of each word and the theological implications. See ya tonight at 6:00!

Behold The Lamb (Communion Hymn)
Words and Music by Keith and Kristyn Getty & Stuart Townend

Behold the Lamb who bears our sins away,
Slain for us – and we remember
The promise made that all who come in faith
Find forgiveness at the cross.
So we share in this bread of life,
And we drink of His sacrifice
As a sign of our bonds of peace
Around the table of the King.
The body of our Savior Jesus Christ,
Torn for you – eat and remember
The wounds that heal, the death that brings us life
Paid the price to make us one.
So we share in this bread of life,
And we drink of His sacrifice
As a sign of our bonds of love
Around the table of the King.
The blood that cleanses every stain of sin,
Shed for you – drink and remember
He drained death’s cup that all may enter in
To receive the life of God.
So we share in this bread of life,
And we drink of His sacrifice
As a sign of our bonds of grace
Around the table of the King.
And so with thankfulness and faith we rise
To respond, – and to remember
Our call to follow in the steps of Christ
As His body here on earth.
As we share in His suffering
We proclaim Christ will come again!
And we’ll join in the feast of heaven
Around the table of the King
